I spoke to his nurse, I am a nurse too which makes no difference, and told her my husband laid in bed all day. I was beyond livid! His roomate who is a really nice guy told me the aide came in around 7am and gave my husband a bed bath and that was it. I asked him if the nursing staff got him out of bed that day. He was in bed in a hospital gown laying on his back. I came to see him yesterday which was a Saturday. My husband is currently a patient at Powerback. I will do everything in my power to make this known to everyone. who helped us by signing him out and coming back after she had left for the day. You expect a dying man to wait over a week to be sent home and made comfortable? We did everything ourselves, called everyone ourselves, arranged everything ourselves, and finally got him home because he was not staying in that hole another day. expected us to wait over a week, until to make hospice care arrangements. She absolutely knew my mom was in my dad's room waiting to hear from her and she said she called the home number, which she did not. The social worker,, working "helping" us was completely lazy and did nothing to help my mom who was trying to get my dad home on hospice care. My dad was put on fluid restriction understandably but they literally never brought him anything to drink at all! Every time we got there his mouth was so dry he could hardly speak. No tech or nurse was ever available to help change my dad who was left to lay around in his own feces and urine. They walked around with headphones on and on their cell phones CONSTANTLY. My father, who is at the end of his battle with cancer, stayed here for 3 nights only. If, G-D forbid, you ever need nursing/rehab care, this is the only place to be. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me next. They’ve even ordered special foods so I could keep my diet restrictions. Last night they made me roasted potatoes, eggplant and mushrooms that was so good I could eat it every night. Here, in contrast, they’ve bent over backwards to comply with my dietary restrictions. Top notch! Even more important, the prior facilities could not accommodate my being a vegan/gluten free, alkaline and diabetic. Their 2 hour evaluations were more comprehensive than the total evals at the two facilities I was in for 3 weeks previously. For example, they evaluated my abducter muscles and were able to detect a slight weakness that they included in my plan for strengthening. They noted everything I could do and where, even the slightest, weaknesses were. I was evaluated by PT and OT for what seemed like 2 hours. They tell you everything that’s going on, the meds you’re getting and the reasons for whatever they’re doing. They actually listen to me and treat me like a part of the process rather than just another body they have to attend to. The staff are very friendly and learn your name and likes and dislikes. The appearance alone gets you into a rehab mindset. From the front door to my room, it’s analogous to a good hotel. In a matter of 2 days, they addressed, evaluated and created rehab plans that are total mind and body. I cannot say enough good about PowerBack, Hatboro!
